There are plenty of ways you can get involved and loads of reasons to do so.
::::::::
We've begun the metamorphosis of the Futurehealth.org website as a media/community blog site.
This
past week, we published six articles and we'll be publishing one or two
articles a day, every business day and sometimes more.
After just four days, our traffic and page views have tripled.
We're using the social media and networking tools of the website to
maximize exposure of the articles and will doing even more to boost
exposure of the articles.
I've posted invitations to submit articles before. The invitation
is still open. When you sign up, you create a member page where, if you
are a practitioner, you can include a link to your website, a list of
the professional services you offer.
If you're a lay person, you can sign up and create diaries asking
questions, or add comments to articles by respected members of the
mind/body/biofeedback/ neurofeedback community.
I encourage all of you to use the articles on the site to educate your clients and referral sources.
The
hopes for this site are to reach a much wider audience than has been
reached in the past with real, solid articles on biofeedback,
neurofeedback, qEEG, applied psychophysiology, self regulation
training, mind machines, hypnosis, meditation, transpersonal
psychology, behavioral medicine, conscious exploration, nutrition,
alternative health etc.
We're looking for articles at all levels of writing, from detailed
professional articles aimed at researchers to articles written for 8th
grade reading levels.
To submit an article, sign up as a
member, log in, click on MY ARTICLES, then on submit an article. Then
fill in the fields. Our content management is easy to use and has been
used to post over 90,000 articles since we designed and built it.
Articles do not have to be about bio or neuro feedback. They can be
about stress or pain management, personal growth, nutrition and all the
topics listed above.
We do NOT pay for articles, but you will get free exposure and increased visibility that's great for your work.
Let me know if I can help in any way.
Free Event Advertising
Do
you have an event you want to promote. We'll let you sumbit event
announcements free. They will last one week. Submit a solid,
non-commercial article and we'll make the announcement free for a
month. Otherwise, you can keep re-submitting them each week.
Why are we doing this? We want you to see how easy it is to use the
site and start using it regularly, posting articles, diaries and
commenting on other people's writing.
Comment on articles
You
really don't even have to be a writer and write full articles to get
exposure on the site. Comment on selected articles-- adding usefull
additional information and people will see you and your bio too. We're
hoping that as the site unfolds, it will become a community that
supports the neurofeedback and biofeedback field, just as my winter
brain meetings did.
Submit a diary.
Diaries are less formal than articles.
Think of diaries as think pieces that are less polished, more off the
cuff. If you've made an observation and want to get feedback, it's the
kind of thing you might post here on this listserve. Well, consider
cross-posting it as a diary. Diaries get crawled by the major search
engines in a way that listserve discussions do not. They serve a
supplementary purpose.
Create a poll
Anyone can create a poll that readers can then take.
Want to know how many neurofeedback practitioners use thermal biofeedback or acupuncture-- create a poll.
Interested in whether biofeedback clients had a qEEG before they began their neurofeedback? Create a poll.
Curious which brands of EEG biofeedback gear practitioners are using-- create a poll. They're not normed or scientific, but often produce fascinating results.
Once you post an article and it is published (which could take a few weeks, since we are in the beginning of a roll-out with 50 articles already in the queue.
You might want to tweet or add your article to your facebook accounts,
and tell people on your listserve about it, and ask them to
comment on it or ask questions in response to it.
If you add your twitter user name and password to your futurehealth
profile, you can tweet really easily using ourtwitter button, or just
add them each time.
We started posting articles on Wednesday. By Saturday, our pageviews more than tripled.
You can track article polularity here: http://bit.ly/popul to see which articles are getting the most attention. Note you can check for different date and
time ranges and different measures of popularity. You may want to
bookmark that page.
Authors Bio:One theme has run through my work for the past 40 plus years-- a desire to play a role in waking people up, raising their consciousness and empowering them.
I was the organizer founder of the Winter Brain, Optimal Functioning and Positive Psychology and StoryCon Meetings and president of Futurehealth, Inc., with interests in Positive Psychology as well as being involved in the field of biofeedback/neurofeedback since 1972.
see my more detailed bio, reflecting my work in biofeedback, here.
In 2003 I founded www.OpEdNews.com , where I've written over 1800 articles and have published over 100,000 other people's writings, with the goal of raising people's consciousness in political and activist ways.
